Kristin Kelly, the Program Director at the 318 Foundation, spearheads the 318 VISION, 318 ACTION, and 318 SPORT programs, channeling her visionary approach to curriculum and community development. Her academic journey began at Spelman College and continued through Vanderbilt Divinity School, cultivating a passion for humanitarian impact. Following her studies, Kristin delved into humanitarian work through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, establishing after-school programs alongside Title I schools before transitioning to a teaching role.

Disillusioned with the trajectory of education, particularly in under-resourced communities, she sought change, recognizing the need for more profound academic engagement for students. Her commitment to reshaping curriculum and teaching practices led her to collaborate with Alana Beard, driven by a shared commitment to empowering Black and brown children through education. Together, they expanded on existing curriculum frameworks, emphasizing the importance of community and a forward-thinking vision.

Kristin's return to Maryland solidified her focus on supporting marginalized youth, advocating for curriculum development as a means of effecting positive change. Her vision for an empowered community led to the creation of 318 VISION, shaped by her educational background and commitment to mentorship. Her philosophy centers on nurturing untapped potential in youths, particularly in Black girls, aiming to inspire and embolden them to pursue their aspirations.

As the 318 Program Director, Kristin leverages her extensive experience in various educational settings, combining her skills in curriculum design and program management. Her work reflects a dedication to equity, youth advocacy, racial and gender justice, and spiritual development through a social justice lens. Currently pursuing a Ph.D., Kristin continues to deepen her expertise in youth development, education, and social justice, driven by her unwavering passion to create inclusive spaces that foster hope, curiosity, and healing within communities.
